Getting Better!

Well……as much as I hate running…I am sticking with it and getting a little better.  I have to run in intervals…can’t just run….

Tonight I ran with my daughter and her friend…her friend runs track and was so sweet to walk when I needed to.  I have to say, I am getting a little further with the run part each day!

I am looking to work my weight lifting back into my workout…trying to find something new that will keep my attention!

Yes, it’s time to get back at it…eventhough my weight remains at it’s lowest…I can tell that some of my muscle has turned to jello!

Definately a work in progress!

Working My Way Back!

Well……I have been, I guess you could call it lazy as far as workouts go for several months!  Just returning from 18 days gone…2400 miles, 2 countries, 5 states and 99 innings (11 games) of baseball…..the scale only moved 2 lbs….I am lucky!

My daughter wants to run every night and guess who she ask to join her??  ME!!!  The one who hates to run…lol!

How could i say no……so last night was the first night….it was a family run…my hubby decided to join us…..boy am I out of shape and old…lol!  Definately a work in progress but i did it and will be out there again tonight!

Let the fun begin!

On the Mike

Blackburn-PaulBoise Hawks right-hander Paul Blackburn was named Northwest League Pitcher of the Week for games from June 14-23, announced today by MILB.com.

Blackburn did not record a decision in his two starts, however, posted a 0.00 ERA in 10 innings of work. The supplemental first-round pick from the 2012 draft tossed five innings of one-hit ball, striking out eight in his Hawks debut on June 15 at Eugene, followed by a five inning stint in Spokane on Friday, allowing an unearned run on four hits, walking one and striking out four.

He currently leads the NWL in ERA and ranks second in strikeouts.

Salem-Keizer third-baseman Sam Eberle was named NWL Player of the Week.

The Hawks close out their five-game series tonight (weather-permitting) at Spokane, with first pitch schedule for 6:35 p.m. (PDT)

What a Debut!

What an awesome weekend we had in Eugene, OR where we went to watch our son pitch for the Boise Hawks, this was his first time pitching at this level.  What an incredibly awesome job he did!  He pitched 5 innings, striking out 8, walking none, giving up 1 hit and no runs!

I do believe I may have been more nervous than he was!  It was a sold out crowd…standing room only when we got our tickets, which was a story in itself….if I wouldn’t have gotten a ticket into that game….it would not have been a pretty sight!

After the game he met up with us and couldn’t stop smiling…it was so good to see that from him…he is very tough on himself…but this time…there was nothing to be hard on himself about!  He was called as soon as he got in the car…it was someone interviewing him from MLB.com…as soon as he finished another call came in…….just another day in paradise for him!

The link below is to the article for which he was interviewed that night.

I couldn’t be more proud as I watch him continue to work hard for his life long dream!

What a package!!

I just had the most wonderful 48 hours!  My son who had 3 days off due to the MLB Draft told me he couldn’t come home because pitchers had to stay and workout….he had been texting me all week about having to stay…but did tell me he sent me a package that should arrive this past Friday.  It said it was nice things for me.  That surprised me that he would be sending a package but thought that was very nice.  My husband said he didn’t send any package…the package is him….it got me thinking but still he told me he had to stay.

Thursday he was texting me all day..said he was golfing on his day off….and that he had tracked his package and it was delivered that day.  During the draft he was texting me and so was my husband as I was still at work….as I left work I called my husband and said…”is he there”…no answer and next thing I knew….my son was on the phone!  He was the package….I thought he is one incredible kid!  He left Mesa at 4 am to drive home for 48 hours.  I was sad to have to say goodbye today…but really felt wonderful about his surprise!

Looking forward to a week from today watching him pitch in his first game of the season!

Who said boys aren’t thoughtful…. 🙂

How Quickly A Year Goes!

It’s so hard to believe that a year ago tonight we were sitting here watching the MLB First Year Players Draft and Fergie Jenkins called my sons name!  This was an incredible day when his live long dream came true!  So proud of you son!  Keep reaching for the stars….can’t wait to see what the future holds!

Can’t Shake It!

I have been fighting this flu for almost 2 weeks, I can’t seem to shake it.  I was down for a week and then thought I was getting better….but still very little to no energy…not much of an appetite…and just don’t feel good!  I signed up for the 52 Summer DC but not sure I will be participating…..I can’t workout until I gain my strength and feel “normal” again.  Very frustrating!

Hoping this week ahead will end this craziness and let me be human again!!!  I have lost 5 lbs….can’t seem to gain any back…so I guess that could be one good thing out of this bug whatever it is!

Back to Reality….

Well…after 10 great days of sunshine, baseball and awesome family time….I am back to reality today….work…work…..and more work!  Ugh…and rain!  What is going on…I want my mid 80’s to 90’s I had and baseball….

Work is so overrated…..I am so done with this career…wish I could pursue my dream of a cupcake truck!  Still a dream and probably always will be!  At least I got home and ran 3.2 miles burning over 600 calories….feels great to get back to some structured workouts!

One day at a time….looking forward to my next trip to AZ and more baseball!!!

In the meantime…I have lots and lots of catching up to do on my workouts…that will be my focus for now!

Enjoy the ride!  🙂
